About Wellesley Exotic Pet Vets
Wellesley Exotic Pet Vets of Richmond, Virginia is a specialty offering within Wellesley Animal Hospital. Wellesley Animal Hospital added an exotic pet veterinary care focus in 2018. Veterinary services and animal hospital is located in the Short Pump area, near Henrico and Glen Allen.
Caring for exotic animals has always been a passion of co-owner, Dr. Kelly Gottschalk and with the addition of Dr. Lucy Haile in 2018, more experience and resources are available for your special pets.
We provide medical, surgical, preventative and dental care to a variety of avian species, reptiles, small mammals (pocket pets), and backyard poultry.

Dr. Lucy Haile
You will be reassured that you have brought your exotic or avian pet to a caring and loving veterinarian when you meet Dr. Lucy Haile. With her King's English accent, she will provide calming and attentive care for your animal, while thoroughly explaining your post-visit responsibilities.
Dr. Lucy is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London. She volunteers at the Wildlife Center of Virginia and is focused on providing veterinary care for lizards, snakes, birds, chickens, ducks, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rabbits, ferrets and many more animals.
Dr. Lucy is adamant about scheduling wellness exams to allow her to get to know you and your furry, feathered or scaly pet before it is injured or sick
Dr. Kelly Gottschalk
Vast experience with many species of animals, teamed up with a caring and practical mindset are the features that your exotic pet will receive with Dr. Kelly Gottshalk. You and your pet will value the atmosphere that Dr. Kelly has created for the exotic pets who visit our Richmond, Virginia animal hospital.
Dr. Kelly Gottschalk became captivated by all types of animals at an early age, but was especially interested in wildlife and conservation. She volunteered as a docent at several Texas zoos before attending veterinary College at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Kelly served as the veterinarian for the Metro Richmond Zoo for many years before opening Wellesley Animal Hospital in 2001 with her husband, Dr. Mark Gottschalk. Her love of exotic animals continues in her practice seeing exotic birds, reptiles and small mammals.
Dr. Allison Robbins
With a strong background and history of raising poultry as a young girl, and rehabilitating birds of prey at the Gabbort Raptor Center while attending vet school at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Alli Robbins (maiden name Dr. Schnurrer) provides your avian pet and exotic pet with experienced and loving care.
In addition to her lifelong experience with a variety of birds, Dr. Alli also has experience providing emergency and critical care to small mammals, dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles.
Our veterinary services in Richmond, Virginia are enhanced with Dr. Alli's veterinary practice passions, which include internal medicine, pediatrics, pain management, avian medicine, dentistry and behavior.
